satellite radio antenna installation

From the time of introduction of FM band, the radio receivers have seen various changes. The recent advancement in this technology is the satellite radios. It is also called subscription radio and is based on the business model of pay- and- use. After the installation of the satellite radio antenna, the listener can choose from a very wide range of programs which are otherwise not available on the traditional FM or AM format. The satellite radio antenna has to be installed to receive signals from the communication satellites in space and it is then transmitted to the subscribers. The exact flow of signals is as follows- the radio signal is first broadcasted from Earth based stations to communication satellites in the orbits. These signals are then sent back to Earth based satellite radio receivers. Since the communication satellites are located in space, they would cover more geographical area than terrestrial radio antennas. This is the reason for presence of satellite radio in most parts of the world now. Also, since the radio signals are digital, it is crystal clear and static free, one of the major advantages of the satellite radio. And more importantly the satellite radio is commercial free. The satellite radio antenna installation is done by various companies. WorldSpace does the installation in Europe, Asia and Africa while Sirius and XM Radio are the leading players in North America. To start enjoying the satellite radio, one needs an actual satellite radio which is also known as tuner or receiver. This receiver normally also has an antenna incorporated in it. Then one just needs to get the subscription and the installation process is complete. The user has an option to choose from various types of satellite radios. There are dedicated car and home radios present. Also, there is a plug and play radio where single subscription is required and it can be used either in car or home. Other options include a portable radio which comes with a rechargeable battery, an integral antenna and a pair of headphones. The electromagnetic signals which the receiver picks up is the proprietary of the provider and thus it has to be ensured by the listener that he/she picks up the provider after due diligence. Depending upon the subscription, the installed satellite radio antenna playback the radio signals after receiving and decoding it. When the satellite radio antennas are installed a unique serial number called Radio ID is given to the receiver. The user also gets an activation code for their receiver. The satellite radio also displays the name of the artist, the title of the song or music and the name of the channel. This helps the listener to choose the channel and the artist. Once the installation process of the satellite radio antenna is done the subscriber gets an option to choose from 100 programs that range from sports, music, news, entertainment and many more. There are few exclusive shows offered by the satellite radio and local updates too. And the unique advantage over terrestrial radio, satellite radio is not affected by bad weather or even calamities.
