Why do we like to eat?

Hunger is associated with human beings since evolution. In fact its not only humans but any living being gets hungry. Hunger is an indication given to the brain by other parts and organs of the body at the time of requirement of energy. Our body is like any engine which requires fuel to function. The car needs diesel or petrol to operate. A fan needs electricity to function. If we notice, both petrol and electricity are form of energy. Similarly our organs need energy at regular intervals. Now when this indication is communicated to the brain, we look for something to eat to supply energy to our body.

In the ancient times, people used to work hard and toil to grow food grain to consume. Or they used to hunt and eat. These days, most of us pick our vehicle, go to the nearest food vendor, buy stuff and eat. This is the reason why we have so many health issues. The food we eat, does not get proper digestion or exercise of the body. Hence the food fails to provide us with balanced nutrients. Junk food causes obesity, diabetes and several cardiovascular diseases.

One more question which keeps coming into our minds is how do we recognize taste?
The simple answer to this may be that that’s why we have been provided by taste buds. We have been provided with taste buds to keep our body excited. Imagine how it would have been if we did not have taste buds. It is said that we eat to live and survive. So if we did not have taste recognition and choices then there would have been no excitement in living. On serious notes, taste buds have been implanted in us because every one has a different physiological anatomy than others. Some anatomies accept lesser salt than sweet. And of course it is the other way round for others. Similarly some people have lesser diet than others even though they might look tougher or healthier than people who eat more than them. This is not strange but it is again a matter of anatomy. It is possible that the ones who eat less have a balanced diet. Excess eating is not good for health. A person should have a balanced diet than eating anything that looks good. Junk food should be completely avoided. Yes, we do like to eat junk food because of their flavor and their attraction. However, junk food is prepared with synthetic ingredients and hence they are not accepted by the body. The body tries to digest the junk food or throw it out somehow. But it has its own limitations to do so. More junk food we consume, the lesser becomes the capacity of our body to filter it out. Eventually the junk food takes over the anatomy and hence come diseases. Calories, fats and excess carbohydrates get collected in the body and disrupt the proper functioning of the same. Excess amount of fat and calories are pumped into the blood vessels causing congestion and blockade.

Everyone likes o eat and it is very natural to crave for food. Delicious food is not always good for health. A food item is made delicious by adding unnatural flavors to it. These unnatural flavors harm the body in one way or the other. It’s true that if we do add spices to our food, we won’t like to eat. Spices should be added in a quantity which is acceptable by the body. Keep your body fit by performing light exercises to improve your digestion and to distribute the nutrients evenly in your body.

Live healthy and eat well….
