Too much of anything is not good. Too much of money makes a man greedier. Too much of sugar makes the cake bitter. Too much of pampering spoils a child. Too much of love becomes obsession. All these are true and facts. Similarly they say, too much of drinking is bad for health. There is a point to be pondered upon here.
Why is it that “too much” of drinking is not good for health? The hidden direction in this statement is that little drinking is good. Yes, over the past few years of research it has been noticed that moderate consumption of alcohol is good for health in many ways. It is said that moderate drinking reduces the risk of heart related diseases. Moderate drinking is computed as a drink per day for women and two drinks daily for men.
Moderate drinking is also helpful in controlling sugar levels of the body and to keep diabetes at bay.
It is also said that the type of drink one consumes is also a factor to make the drinking habit beneficial. Red wine taken with a meal is beneficial for cardiac diseases than beer or high spirits.
People who drink little everyday have lesser chances of heart attack than people who drink heavily once in a week. This does not mean that people who do not drink, are advised herein to start drinking, neither are those who drink once in a month are advised to do so.
Whatever are the benefits of drinking, ok moderately, but one should remember that it is more hazardous than beneficial.
The biggest loss of an alcoholic is his or her detachment with the family. Drinking slows down the reflex action of the body. The mind looses control of the senses and this makes the drinker uncontrollable. Drinking is more a psychological problem prior to it being a physiological problem. Hence, avoid drinking and develop self control.
