In any therapy, side effects are some unavoidable occurrences. They can occur as a result of wrong medication or even if a person is trying out any new medication. This is because the body has to get used to something new and this process can take some time. Antidepressants are some of the most useful medicines. However, they do cause some side effects. The side effects that are caused due to antidepressants can either get cured by themselves or they may at times persist in any person. These side effects are not to be taken very lightly. Nausea is one of the symptoms caused due to antidepressant. It usually begins within a week of the first usage an antidepressant. Usually, this gets cured by itself as the body gets tuned with the application of the antidepressant. Increased appetite or even an increase in the weight of a person is another obvious symptom. This may be caused as a result of fluid retention, development of a new and better appetite or even due to lack of required physical exercise. There are so many other side effects that may be possible in a person.
Side effects of antidepressants include decreased sexual desire, delayed ejaculation as well as decreased orgasm. This will last until the end of the treatment. Especially, Tricyclic antidepressants are likely to lead to more erectile dysfunction. Drowsiness and fatigue are common side effects in the early stages of the treatment of antidepressants. The antidepressants bestows energy boost and results in insomnia. This may appear to be appealing, yet the problem is that it may result in lack or sleep or you may feel exhausted during the entire day. Another common side effect is dry mouth and in turn it disrupts the functioning of digestive tract as well as other systems such as saliva secretions.
The side effects of antidepressants are blurred vision, but this fades away after a week or two. The Tricyclic antidepressants normally block the neurotransmitter and this leads to dryness of your eyes causing blurriness. Constipation is also related to Tricyclics antidepressants as they disrupt the normal functions of the digestive tract as well as other organ systems. Dizziness is also a common side effect and these medications result in causing low blood pressure and dizziness. Restlessness, agitation as well as anxiety are the results owing to the stimulating effect of antidepressants. The impulsive thoughts are also a result of the antidepressant drugs that result in high energy.
