Justice delayed is Justice Denied

A middle class farmer’s educated son who lives in the city bought a house in the city with his hard earned money and by taking loans. After a couple of years, few local goons trespass his property and throw him out of the house. He approaches the police and the police after much pestering register his complaint. On the behest of the complaint, the police does not take any action but advise the complainant to approach the court saying that the police tried but the goons are not leaving his premises.

The poor fellow approached the court and filed a criminal trespass suit through a lawyer. The lawyer charged a hefty fee and filed the case. The first hearing came about in a month’s time. The accused did not appear in the court. There were summons sent again to the accused but he skipped the entire summons. Meanwhile the complainant was staying in a rented house. He also could not go back to his father because of the case. He lost concentration in the job because he was worried about his property. He was issued warning letters from his boss for non performance. 8 months had passed by but the case was not moving ahead.

At the end, the poor boy lost his job and had to return to his village. His lawyer was just taking money from him without doing anything. One fine day, he decided that he must take some other step to throw the goon out of his property. He hired a group of bigger goons and paid them less than what he had to his lawyer till that time. These goons went to his house and threw the trespasser away and got the boy’s property released. He withdrew all cases from the court. He had lost his job and his career had diminished. He was so frustrated with the judicial system of his country that he thought about a new career. Today his business is to get disputed properties of people cleared through muscle power. He knows that the judiciary can do nothing to goons and that the law is blind. This boy has enough reasons to justify his chosen profession.

There are so many other men who have taken up the wrong path because they have been denied justice by delaying hearings of the court. Countless cases are pending in courts throughout the world which can be decided in just one hearing. People with mal intentions take advantage of the judicial loopholes and play their own games. The judges have a much laid back attitude towards their duty. They do not think in a fashion they should think. For them its just any other case but they do not consider what the people involved in the case might be going through. The trauma of waiting for justice is so frustrating that people tend to end their lives sometimes. Hence people have stopped complaining and stopped approaching the law because they have an easier way to justice, the muscle power. Delayed justice is denied justice. And this is a major cause of increased crime rates.
