Is it really so hard to say sorry?

Sorry by the dictionary means to apologize for a committed mistake knowingly or unknowingly. It is an emotion and it is an expression of regret. Sorry is an expression of pity too.

Usually Sorry is said after a small mistake is realized. We come across instances in our daily life where we say or hear sorry so many times on small negligible activities. But there are some people out there who get a cut on their Ego if they have to say sorry to someone. Saying a sorry solves so many problems. A sorry if you really realize that you were wrong, does not let you down, rather it boosts your morale. Mistakes are bound to happen. Human beings will make mistakes because no one is perfect. Not saying a sorry might land you up in bigger troubles. I had come across this instance where there was an argument between a senior manager and an assistant manager on some operational issue of an organization. The assistant manager was right in what he stated but the senior manager was arrogant and insulted his junior in front of some other colleagues. Later the CEO intervened and stopped the argument. The assistant manager demanded an apology from the senior manager for insulting him in public but the senior manager declined. The issue got escalated and eventually the senior manager had to make a choice between a sorry and his job. He chose to leave his job. A small sorry could have saved him from embarrassment and could have won a place in every colleague’s heart at the first instance.

We should never carry a false ego with us. This would take us no where. But if you can be big by a small word like “Sorry”, where lays the problem?

I feel really sorry for people who cut a sorry figure in saying a sorry.
