Granny cookies

Do you not remember the days, when you were a kid and the world seemed a better place? There are some memories that cannot be simply forgotten or misplaced and whenever you remember you feel some kind of warmth engulf your heart. Whenever the family visited the grandparents, there were some cookies readily available for all the children. These cookies are perhaps the single item that you associate with your grandmother instantly and the taste of these cookies not only puts a smile on your face, but takes you back to your childhood, giving you the sense of warmth, love and security that you took for granted.

Most of the recipes the grandmothers used for their cookies are not easily written out. When asked, they will say something in the line of "well, I have never written it down, I take a bit of this and a pinch of that..." meaning that the original recipe they started to make the cookies from changed over time and got perfected and amended to suit personal taste and the preferences of the target clientele, which were the kids. There were probably several batches gone severely wrong, where grandpa was probably pegged as the guinea pig, having to taste them all and if he survived the experiment, asked his opinion, which was not employed anyway.

In the days of the Internet, thousands of recipes of grandmothers all over the world are being uploaded and are available free of charge to anyone who is interested. Many of them are genuinely written down by grandmothers, wishing to share their culinary expertise; some are marred by keeping at least one secret ingredient out of the equation, just like when your mom asked granny for the recipe, father's mother, and she gave her something that did not taste nearly as well, when baked in cookie form.

Nevertheless, even prominent manufacturers of cookies have whole series of cookies devoted to grandmother recipes, such established recipes are cutting back the whole research and development part, the most prominent case being the invention of the Chocolate Chip cookies by the Toll House Inn owner, Ruth Wakefield, which Toll House Cookies are still being manufactured and distributed by Nestl‚ worldwide.

Unfortunately the search engines for granny cookies will not provide you with pertinent hits, there are some adult web pages which use the name granny cookies and the web pages are littered with porn. On the other hand, Grandma's Cookies, the Sugar 'n Spice Catering company of Ruthie Conway, offers the best selection of cookies just like grandma used to make.
