Golden globes countdown

The whole year through the motion pictures and television industries are releasing projects which should entertain the masses and provide them with insight, fun and relaxation. But when in December the nominations for the Annual Golden Globe Awards are announced, then the whole industry is engulfed in the countdown to the Golden Globes.The Hollywood Foreign Press Association established the awards shortly after they were founded in 1943. The first awards were given already the very next year, in 1944, although there were no statuettes or trophies, the awards were given in form of scrolls. The very next year, after a competition, the designs for the statuettes were revealed and already the following awards show the winners were receiving the Golden Globe with the film strip encircling them, on a pedestal. This original design, with some modifications, has been kept up to this very day. The latest improvements were finalized in time for the 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards show, the pedestal was replaced with a marble pillar, the globe is more detailed and the hemisphere with the film strip is now residing in a golden cup.Although when December was approaching, several motion pictures and television productions have started with the lobbying for their hopefuls, the real media circus starts with the announcement of the nominations. Five nominees for each and every of the categories is being chosen, unless the entries are less than five, as was the case with animated features this year, where only three movies were entered, and after the one month period has passed, the winners are presented at the Annual Golden Globes gala and banquet, traditionally held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The lobbying for certain thespian or project are very elaborate and include private screenings, meeting with the producers, directors and stars of the project, many ads are being taken out in pertinent trade papers, like the Hollywood Reporter or Variety. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and their members seemingly enjoy all the ruckus; and while the ballots are being handled with utmost secrecy by a prominent accounting firm, the preparations for the great evening of the Globes continues.The very same day of the awards show, the countdown reaches its apex, starting as soon as early in the morning, where first reports from the Beverly Hilton Hotel are being publicized. When celebrities and invited guests of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association start to arrive at the red carpet, the last minutes of the countdown are ticking away and the media expectations are at a bursting point. All eyes are waiting for the moment, when the first envelope is about to be opened.
