Golden globe fashions

Hollywood Foreign Press Association throws annually a lavish social gathering extravaganza with an exquisite banquet, when the winners of the year's best motion picture and television categories are awarded with Golden Globe statuettes for their craftsmanship. This special events is next to the Academy Awards, the most prestigious entertainment event of the year, where the crŠme de la crŠme of Hollywood comes together to enjoy the day congratulating colleagues who managed to deliver exceptional work the previous year. Naturally every single person tries to show their best to the industry members and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association members alike, as well as the millions of viewers and admirers around the world.

The red carpet entrance event is a show for itself. Watching all the stars, celebrities and industry insiders parade down in glorious splendor became almost as popular as the award show itself. Many fashion experts and designers are hired by the broadcasting companies and entertainment TV programs to comment on stars' attires and every year there are major "A" list stars who really shine, and others who really choose badly. Not once such proper attire has increased a star's popularity, for instance, Nicole Kidman was impeccable a few years back in the divine blue silk dress by Gucci, completely without jewelry but with a beautiful peacock feather at the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards. Her photos literally went around the globe, there was not a single entertainment magazine which has not published her in that dress.

It is therefore very important to choose the right garments for the occasion, even if it is a little bit daring. Hilary Swank needed to show off her femininity after very masculine roles in "Boys Don't Cry" and "Million Dollar Baby", afraid that she will get typecast in tough gender bending roles. At the 62nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, where she was honored for her role in "Million Dollar Baby", Hilary Swank showed up in a gorgeous dress by Calvin Klein that left no doubts about her sexy feminine physique. Needless to say that she received more feminine roles, like in the romantic drama "P.S. I Love You".

At the most recent, 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards, the best and the worst are still discussed by the press. Angelina Jolie in the stunning Versace dress and the double winner Kate Winslet in a black Yves Saint Laurent stole the whole show, while Glenn Close looked like an accident in her shiny pants. Anne Hathaway looked stunning in her blue Armani Prive gown, which was designed with Swarovski crystals embedded; she looked like a young Audrey Hepburn.
