Diet coke commercial music

Advertisements by the Coca-Cola Company have always been immensely admired. Top of the line directors, huge celebrities as spokespersons, exclusive and talented music stars made the music. Every single commercial was deemed a work of art and people were always recollecting the ads with a smile. Urban legends formed, based on commercials the Coca-Cola Company made, like the one where it was alleged the popular image of the red and white suit of Santa Claus is actually a creation of the Coca-Cola Company and was adopted by the broad public, or the one that polar bears actually do drink Coke.
On a more serious note, some music pieces, which have been used in commercials by the Coca-Cola Company, became instant chart successes, like the ad made in 1971 featuring the song "I'd like to teach the world to sing", which was sung in the commercial by the Hillside Singers, but made more popular by The New Seekers. It has been recorded over seventy times since then, the latest incarnation was by the British band "Oasis", who used it without permission and had to pay up a whopping half a million British pounds.
Many hugely popular music stars have been lined up to not only advertise for the Coca-Cola Company, but to advertise a specific product, in this case the Diet Coke. Paula Abdul, while she was still a popular singer and dancer, way before the American Idol days, was enlisted to make a Diet Coke commercial, together with Sir Elton John in the year 1991. In 1986, the most popular female singer, Whitney Houston, did a string of Diet Coke commercials that were insanely popular. The music from the commercials was never made available and remained an exclusive Diet Coke offering.
Elton John did repeat performances for Diet Coke, there was a commercial with Humphrey Bogart and James Cagney, where they walk into a bar where Elton John is playing a "Just for the fun of it" song, a wonder of modern video technology. Paula Abdul did another commercial, where she danced together with Groucho Marx and Gene Kelly and Cary Grant was watching them, later even making a pass to Paula.
George Michael did a very popular Diet Coke commercial, featuring him and a toreador, comparing the music stage with a corrida. En Vogue did promote Diet Coke as well, Paul Oakenfold, Aberfeldy and currently Duffy is enlisted to promote Diet Coke in a huge campaign. Although with Coke Zero a big competitor from the own company, the Coca-Cola Company, has been established, don't count out the most popular diet soft drink yet.
