Who does not know about Osho Rajneesh? For people who do not know, let me introduce him to you. He was known as a professor of philosophy in a small town in central Indian University.
During the 1960s he started traveling across India as an orator and spoke against socialism, Gandhiji and he came to the limelight by springing controversies. He started preaching about open and free sexuality. He then came to be known as a “Sex Guru” which attracted many westerners towards his teachings. During 1970s he had started making his followers and named them Neo-Sanyasis “New Age Sages”. He was based in Mumbai in the 1970s in 1974 he opened an ashram in Pune and established the Osho Commune. By that time he had gathered a lot of Neo-Sanyasis from around the world by re-interpreting writings of philosophers from across the world. During the 1980s he shifted to the United States and established an Osho Commune in Oregon. He had a large number of followers and he had by that time become unbelievably rich from the donations of his western followers. The Osho Commune, Rajneeshpuram collapsed because of its illegal establishment in Oregon, but Rajneesh by that time had become a billionaire.
He started a world tour during the late 1980s but was not allowed to enter a lot of countries because of the illegal activities of his commune. He returned to Pune and died in 1990.
Rajneesh was known for his collection of Rolls Royce cars and his rich lifestyle. What a career he chose. Become a spiritual leader and you will become rich. No more dragging you slippers in the small town university corridors.
I sincerely apologize to the followers of Osho, if their sentiments were hurt. But whatever written here is a fact. I have not quoted anything about his preaching.
