Eggs For Good health

Egg is a nutritious food item which is easy and fast to cook. It consists of quality protein, essential fats, vitamins and minerals. Eggs are widely used as a quick food by majority of people. The delicious varieties of cooked eggs are eaten alone or with other food items for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

An egg contains almost 6grams of protein. They have B –vitamins too. The B group of vitamins has a major role in energy metabolism, nervous function and immunity. It is believed that people who consume eggs will have a better stress management power and immunity to bacteria and viruses. Eggs have antioxidant effect too. It has a high level of Vitamin E in it.

Eggs contain cholesterol also, which many people point out as a disadvantage. An egg contains about 212 mg of cholesterol in it. As cholesterol is also required in the body, normal people can have eggs without much fear. But the requirement of cholesterol for the body is only 300mg per day; we should control other food items that contain cholesterol. It is better for the people who suffer from high cholesterol problems to avoid eggs.


It is commonly considered as a healthy breakfast. Egg is a rich combination of many vital nutrients for the body. The components are Vitamin A (helps to improve eye sight and skin health), Vitamin Bs (helps the metabolism), Vitamin E (a good antioxidant), Choline (good for mental function and good memory, also necessary for cell membranes), Selenium (strong anti oxidant, improves immunity), lutein (good for retina and prevent macular degeneration), vitamin D, Zinc, Iron, phosphorous and sulphur.


Along with these egg contains more than 5grams of fat too. The total calorie provided by an egg is about 80. So consuming more eggs can lead to increase in body weight. As it is a highly rich nutritional and low cost food item, it is widely used, and believed to be good for health, even with its high cholesterol and fat content.
